Are you ready for your next adventure? The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver introduces you to a range of new diving possibilities and extends your depth down to 30m. The course consists of 5 open water dives, 2 of which must be a Deep Dive and a Navigation Dive. The other 3 dive can be chosen from the following:
Wreck Diver | Digital Underwater Photography |
Drysuit Diver | Search & Recovery |
Peak Performance Buoyancy | Enriched Air |
DSMB Diver | Fish Identification |
If you've never dived in a drysuit before we strongly suggest one of the 3 dives you pick is the Drysuit dive. For this we will get you in the pool first in a drysuit to familiarize yourself with the suit first before going out into the open water.
Once you have decided on your 3 elective dives, you will be required to study the necessary sections in your Advanced Open Water Diver e-learning and complete the knowledge reviews. Your instructor will then go through the necessary theory with you before each dive on the Open Water Weekend.
The 5 dives completed during your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course all count towards their respective PADI Specialty Courses. If you decide to continue on and complete the respective specialty your adventure dive will count as dive one and will be deducted from the cost of the specialty course.
Upon completion of the open water dives you will receive your Advanced Open Water Diver certification allowing you to dive to a maximum depth of 30m.
After completing your home study and exam, your course will break down as follows:

In the U.K we use an inland dive site called Capernwray which is located in Carnforth just north of Lancaster on the M6. Capernwray is a fresh water site that has numerous underwater attractions including: planes, helicopters, cars, vans and boats. Not to mention the exceptionally friendly local wildlife; particularly the trout. Capers is also home to shoals of Perch and Roach, recent additions of rather colourful carp, then there are the Sturgeons, the elusive fresh water eel and the Pike.
In order to dive at Capernwray all new students must register for a membership which allows you to access to the site and all of the facilities that Capernwray has to offer. Follow this link to register now, the entire process takes less than 10 minutes.
We ordinarily stay at Truck Haven, this is the same place that we also meet at on the morning of your chosen Open Water Weekend. As the name would suggest Truck Haven is a truck stop that serves a fantastic “Fry-Up”, with warm comfy beds and hot showers.
All students are responsible for booking their own accommodation. Details including the address and phone number can be found below:
