Depending on where you go in the world, fins can differ due to the water temperature. Some will require boots, and others will be full foot. If either of these are not a good fit they can make your feet or legs cramp which impeded your ability to dive. They can also cause blisters on your feet which will not only hurt during your dive, but be uncomfortable out of the water too.
